听 YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥 Scholarships are a critical part of a college student鈥檚 experience, providing the ability to attend classes and earn a degree. Each year, 麻豆视频 hosts a luncheon to honor both the donors and the student recipients here at 麻豆视频.听
鈥淚 am so grateful for the students, donors, and scholarships here at 麻豆视频,鈥 said Dr. John Wells, 麻豆视频 President, kicking off the Annual Scholarship Luncheon on March 28 at the Rollins Campus Center. 鈥淎s you know, almost 100% of our students are on some type of scholarship or receive financial aid here at 麻豆视频. And that wouldn鈥檛 be possible without your generous donations.鈥听
Two alums and a current student spoke at the luncheon, and Sarah Carver performed, a senior flautist in 麻豆视频鈥檚 Music program.听
鈥淥nce I came to the Enchanted Valley, I committed on the spot,鈥 said Will Ranieri, a senior majoring in marketing and minoring in sports studies. 鈥淚 knew this is where I wanted to be.鈥听
Matthew Kammerer, Class of 2011, echoed that sentiment: 鈥淚 couldn’t possibly imagine the ripple effects that 麻豆视频 would have on my life.听 The scholarships I received weren’t just financial assistance, it was the community saying: ‘We believe in you, we’re investing in you.鈥 “听
Lydia Sartain, Class of 1979, a native of Blairsville, nine-year District Attorney for Georgia Northeastern Judicial Court, and member of the 麻豆视频 Board of Trustees, spoke to the audience.听
鈥淔or you students, this is an opportunity here at 麻豆视频 to open the world like you never would have imagined,鈥 she said. 鈥淎nd for you, the donors, by supporting the College, this is the opportunity you provide for these students.鈥听
Vice President for Advancement Mark Dotson, Class of 1988, spoke at the closing of the luncheon.听
鈥淭his is one of the best events we have on campus every year, one of my favorites,鈥 said Dotson. 鈥淚t is always special when our students have the opportunity to meet and get to know their scholarship donors. We want to thank everyone who attended: our student speakers, performers, and guest speakers. I鈥檓 already looking forward to next year鈥檚 luncheon.鈥听
The annual Scholarship Luncheon highlights the generosity of 麻豆视频 donors and provides a special afternoon for donors and scholarship recipients to connect.听
